A Time To Heal...

Hello Precious Friends,

Jody and I continue to enjoy life one precious day at a time. As the Word says, "today has enough troubles of it's own". Total dependence on God for everything is so liberating. I wish I had understood this better in the past. While it is important that we make plans for the future, it is so important to simply live right now for God's glory.

Jody had another IV line removed today. She is completely "unplugged" except for one single chest tube. My sense is that it won't be too long before that is removed. I can barely believe that discussions about going back to Oakdale (our home) are on the table. There are a lot of hurdles to clear first - but it still amazes me how far our Gracious Heavenly Father, our Abba, has brought sweet Jodgees!

She walked on her own (with a walker) from the bed to the door of her room six times today. It is such a blessing to see her regain some of her strength and to spend time amongst the vertical! The chemo has not presented any nausea yet. We are so grateful for that. Appetite remains solid. She had a tummy ache today - but it does not seem to be a big deal.

Please continue to pray...

...that God would use these treatments to wipe out the cancer and it's symptoms.

...that Jody would continue to get stronger and build endurance as she increases her physical activities; walking, sitting, standing etc..

...that there would be no harsh side effects from the treatments. Better yet - that there would be no side effects at all! :-)

And most significantly... for the gospel of Christ to take root in those that have been exposed to our testimony.

Lam. 3:22-23 The LORD'S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

Scott and Jody!,
Well, more good news from the gospel...
"Great Physician Raises
' Miracle Girl' Victoriously From 'Jaws' of Death!": Girl getting ready to go home! I was tired of watching tv... so I just turned on the Blog Channel. Now THIS is the type of REALITY tell-a-vision that is really worth watching. I will be tuning in tomorrow night, same time, same station.
Tremendous thanks to the CREATOR and PRODUCER of your/our lives. (oh yea, and continual blessings to you both, for modeling what reality is all about.
Praise the Lord!!!

Jody and Scott,
Dittos to your comment Scott... what hard-won progress Jody has/is making. And Jody, praise God for being such an example... your strength and courage are touching a multitude of people. Way to go...keep it up sister. I would love to play a game of gin, when you feel up to it.
And Scott, what strength and devotion you have manifested in your LOVE for Jody and Jesus.
I pray that God makes each day, each stroll, and each breath Jody takes, to be made more comforting, and soothing, day by day. What's more, may this Sabbath day be especially restful and blessed.
Love,
Jim

Hey Scott & Jody,
So Jody, when you are ready then, ok... no problem. Let's say, 3 games to 150. You are a good player, sooo I better start practicing.
And, of course, dittos and XOXOXO to all the friends and family who are praying for you both.

I had a great time chatting with Bonnie this morning. It was nothing but encouraging... to hear about your testimony, your attitude, your desire to see nothing less (or nothing else) than to have all this point to the glory of Almighty God. I do praise the Lord for this trial in your (and so many others' that you have touched) lives. Reading your thoughts communicates to your readers just how much you trust in God, how you have changed and grown more into who He desires you to become, and your heartfelt desire for everyone to taste of His saving grace.

Rick, So sorry I missed you. God bless you for your kindness and prayers.

Jesus my Lord, please *bless* all these dear ones for being faithful to You by living out the "one anothers". In Your name, amen.

Although we've never met, I am familiar with you two from many years at Grace... Marriage Builders and EWG. Although no longer at Grace I still remain in contact with many there. Heard about your situation from your friend Logan and have been praying fervantly ever since. I can't describe the encouragment that reading your blog has given to me. It is evident that God is using you two to reflect His glory and grace in a powerful way.
As I prayed for you yesterday this verse came to mind and it keeps repeating over and over in my head. I'll pass it along and trust the Lord to remain faithful to use His words to minister as He wills...
"I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord!"
Psalm 27: 13, 14

Praying for your renewed strength and healing, and believing in the goodness of the Lord...

Hello Scott and Jody,
I hope you had a relatively restful and painless Sunday Jody, and that you had some time to relax a bit Scott. I pray that the Lord continues to heal and strengthen you today, and each and every day, according to His perfect plan. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Cheryl's message (above) to you, and especially her reference to Psalm 27: 13,14. Thank God for the wonderful grace He continues to bestow upon you, and all who have cared and ministered on His/your behalf.
On another note Scott, it seems like your mom, Bonnie-Mom, would like to play a game of three way gin... AND to my dismay, is wagering to bet $1.00 on my sister. Could you please tell your mom for me, as long as the bill has George Washington's face "spashed" over it, it would be my pleasure. (By the way, I can tell this not going to be a cake walk by any means). Loser's... sure (not)!!
Well enough said for now,
All the best and GOD BLESS YOU !!!
LOVE, Brother Jim

Dear Jody and Scott,

You both are awesome. Thank you for your prayers for you are in mine as well. I'd like to encourage you in the are of chemotherapy:

You can intimidate the beast by staring it in the eyes.

In other words, there can be side effects but God blesses us with strong minds. He wants us to use them for worship and strength as a testimony (especially through trials such as these).

And Uncle J, you're a smooth writer. Ever thing about writing a book?

Thought you both would appreciate these thoughts from Streams in the Desert:

"Thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress." (Psalm 4:1)

"This verse is one of the greatest testimonies ever written regarding the effectiveness of God's work on our behalf during times of crisis. It is a statement of thanksgiving for having been set free not from suffering but rather through suffering. The psalmist is declaring that the sorrows of life have themselves been the source of life's enlargement."

"Child of My Love, lean hard,
and let Me feel the pressure of your care; I know your burden, child.

I shaped it; Balanced it in My own hand; made no proportion in its weight to your unaided stength, for even as I laid it on I said,

'I will be near and while she leans on Me, this burden will be Mine, not hers; So will I keep My child within the circling arms of My Own love.'

Here lay it down, nor fear to impose it on a shoulder that upholds the government of worlds. Yet closer come:

You are not near enough. I would embrace your care; so I might feel My child reclining on My breast. You love Me, I know. So then do not doubt; But loving Me, lean hard."

Loving you in thought and prayer,

John and Trudy
