The Rock That Is Higher
Hello Dear Friends,Jody and I have had a loving week at home. God has given us such a sweet gift of time together at Oakdale. Thank you all for praying for us! We are back in the battle however, and as I type we find ourselves back at the hospital after Jody became very short of breath. I will spare the details because it is enough to say we have been guided by the Lord as we struggle through our time in "short stay" for another thoracentesis, then the ER due to pain, and now back on the oncology floor. Our prayer is that we will be back home today - and we again trust the Lord for every breath.
Again, C. H. Spurgeon's words minister to us - so I share this edited version with you.
Psalm 61:2 "When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the Rock that is higher than I."
Most of us know what it is to be overwhelmed in heart. Disappointments and heart-breaks will do this when billow after billow rolls over us, and we are like a broken shell hurled to and fro by the surf. Blessed be God, at such seasons we are not without an all-sufficient solace, our God is the harbour of weather-beaten sails, the hospice of forlorn pilgrims. Higher than we are is He, His mercy higher than our sins, His love higher than our thoughts. A Rock He is since He changes not, and a high Rock, because the tempests which overwhelm us roll far beneath at His feet; He is not disturbed by them, but rules them at His will. If we get under the shelter of this lofty Rock we may defy the hurricane; all is calm under the lee of that towering cliff. Hence the prayer of the text.
O Lord, our God, by Thy Holy Spirit, teach us the way of faith, lead us into Thy rest. The wind blows us out to sea, the helm answers not to our puny hand; Thou, Thou alone canst steer us over the bar between yon sunken rocks, safe into the fair haven. How dependent we are upon Thee - we need Thee to bring us to Thee. To be wisely directed and steered into safety and peace is Thy gift, and Thine alone. This day be pleased to deal well with Thy servants.
We trust God, and praise Him for all of your helps and prayers.
P.S. Today is also the birthday of someone very special to Jody and I. This person brought me into the world, and also came to know Jesus Christ as her Lord about seven years ago. Not bad for a Jewish lady. She is generous, loving, writes beautifully, and can take down 300+ words per minute if she absolutely has to. ;-)
Happy Birthday, Bonnie/Mom. We love you.

Brother Bill here. We cannot be sure of happiness in this life, only in the life to come. Having said that, I selfishly want my sister Jody to stay here in this life for as long as possible! But I know I'm not alone in feeling this way. All of who love her want her with us! So that's my "selfish" prayer for the day, and for the days to come!
God bless you both!
Colossians 3:12-13
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
Yep, sounds like Bonnie. Happy Birthday dear heart! -- I enter this post carefully because I don’t want to embarrass her, for which she will forgive me (see above). But it’s meant with love when I confess that -- I’m so glad the Lord brought us together, for He has touched me with deep concern for you (and those you love); not to mention that my prayer life has greatly increased. For all these things I thank God.
Praise the Lord that He gave you a believing mother. Sometimes what you need is your mom, and the Lord knows it.
Love,
Bill & Amanda
How comforting it is to remember that even in the midst of the strongest storm, NOTHING will happen to us that the Lord has not agreed, planned and that He is not in full control of.
I pray that our Father keeps anoint you with His serenity and comfidence in His precious Hand, and that again He reveals Himself through Jody in a supernatural way.
Love.
Isaiah 55: 10,11,12...
"For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, and furnish seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
So will my word which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeding in the manner for which I sent it.
Romans 8:28,... "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Scott and Jody, may our heavenly Father continue to bless your precious hearts, through the Love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. You have t been such a divine inspiration, and a shower of love and light sent from heaven above to me and so many others. Praise the Lord. Jody, I will be continual praying for you to feel better each day. I would gladly take on your discomfort if I could, even just a little bit because well, I LOVE you sooo much! I am looking forward to seeing you ~.~ SOON.
